4 Spring Driving Safety Tips
After a long, rainy winter, Spring is finally here! As we enter into a new season, Miller Injury Attorneys would like to share a list of tips to help drivers stay safe.
Keep the following in mind as you drive this Spring:
- Be careful in wet driving conditions. April showers bring May flowers, but they also make the roads dangerously slippery. As California continues to get more much-needed rain, it is important to drive carefully! Slow down when it begins to rain and make sure to maintain a safe following distance. Even if it is only misting, this small amount of moisture is enough to mix with the oils on the road and make it slippery.
- Beware of potholes. All of the rain California has seen lately has contributed to the formation of potholes in our roads and highways. Deep potholes can throw your vehicle out of alignment or cause more serious – and expensive – damage. Keep an eye out for potholes and drive around them, if possible.
- Share the road. The warmer weather will bring out more drivers, motorcyclists, pedestrians, and bicyclists. Always be aware of others around you and be sure to drive courteously. This means refraining from speeding, looking and signaling before making lane changes, stopping at stop signs, etc.
- Keep your tires properly inflated. Full tires can reduce the damage caused by road hazards and reduce your chance of an accident. If your tires are looking worn after the winter months, springtime is also a good time to replace them. It is a good idea to do a maintenance check of your tires and other car components to ensure that everything is in good working order.
